• What license types are available?

Surfer is offered in two license types: Subscription and Perpetual with Maintenance.

A subscription license is a term based license. You can choose to purchase for either a yearly or monthly subscription and you will have access to the latest version of Surfer for that entire term.

A perpetual license is a one-time purchase. Once you purchase a perpetual license it is your forever and it comes with one free year of software maintenance. While your software maintenance is active you can update to the latest version of Surfer and access priority technical support, at the end of your free year you will have to choose to renew maintenance to continue receiving these benefits.

  • What license options are available?

A single-user license grants one user the right to use the software license. For each single user license you purchase, you will receive a unique product key. This license may not be used by multiple people.

A concurrent-use license, also called a “network” or “floating” license, is tied to a network. The License Manager or License Administrator software is installed on a license server on the company network. The product can be installed on as many client machines as desired. The product usage is controlled by the license server and is limited to the number of concurrent seats that were purchased.

For further information on licensing, contact us and we would be glad to create a solution that will fit your needs.

  • How can I get the latest version of Surfer?

Minor updates (i.e. version 12.0 to 12.1, when available) may be downloaded for free if your serial number is registered. Connect your computer to the Internet, then go to Help | Check for Update in Surfer. This will download the latest patch and install it on your machine.

    Major upgrades contact Hearne.

  • How do I find my product key?

After your order has been processed, Hearne will send you an email containing download instructions and your product key.

In addition, after you install Surfer and run it for the first time, you can also find your serial number by opening the software and going to Help | About Surfer. The About Surfer dialog box will show the serial number.

  • Should I install Surfer 32-bit or Surfer 64-bit?

If you are using a 32-bit version of Windows, then Surfer 12 32-bit is installed automatically.

If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, then Surfer 12 64-bit will be installed automatically. There is an option to install the 32-bit version instead, but we recommend installing the 64-bit version of Surfer 12. Although Surfer 32-bit is capable of installing and running on Windows 64-bit, the 32-bit version of Surfer 12 does not take advantage of the increased 64-bit memory space.
