When I start SPSS I receive the message “No licenses found for Product Name (i.e. 9001=SPSS Student Version 16.0”), even though I have run the License Authorization Wizard?

This issue is caused by the license options file (“lopts”) not installing correctly when you install SPSS. The solution involves replacing the incorrect lopts file with a properly formatted one. Please follow the steps below.

  • Download the file here
  • Open the zip file to see the file called “lopts”
  • Right click on the file “lopts” and choose ‘Copy’
  • Go to the installation folder of SPSS (C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\23\)
  • Paste the file into the folder
  • Press “replace the file in this destination” when prompted
  • Restart SPSS
