Who's eligible to buy SPSS Faculty Packs?
An SPSS Faculty Pack is restricted to use by a Faculty Member, which is an individual who actively teaches a course utilizing IBM SPSS Programs for a degree granting institution, for classroom teaching and non-commercial academic research. Non-commercial academic research means research by a Faculty Member where;
- the results of such research are not intended primarily for the benefit of a third party;
- such results are made available to anyone without restriction on use, copying or further distribution; and
- any copy of any such result is furnished for no more than the cost of reproduction and shipping.
Any other use including but not limited to university administration and operations is strictly prohibited.
What’s the Purchase Process?
During the checkout use your academic institution issued email address such as your “.edu” or “ac.” email address so we can fulfil your order as quickly as possible, we are online 24 hours a day weekdays and we work extended hours on weekends, so you don’t normally need to wait long.
If you don’t use your academic institution email address, we may need to contact you to supply further proof of your Faculty status, once we have this we can fulfil your order.
Faculty Pack orders are not automatically fulfilled so please allow time for us to process your order.
What does "2 Activations" mean?
IBM restricts Faculty Pack licenses to 2 activations to be used on 2 separate machines (1 activation per machine) provided you are the only user of the license on both machines. Once activated your license cannot be deactivated, suspended, paused or transferred to another machine. De-activations and transferability are features limited to more expensive Commercial licenses which are $1000's per annum.
Upon installation, SPSS extracts your machine's "lock-code" (a unique identifier for your machine) which it uses to activate your license. In the event of computer hardware changes (e.g. reformatting or replacing your hard drive) or updates to your operating system (i.e. updating Mac OSX), a new lock-code may be created by your machine. For your SPSS license to work with your new lock-code an additional activation is required.
If one of your activations remains unused, you can use it to license SPSS on your machine. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new license.
