What does "2 Activations" mean?
IBM restricts Grad Pack licenses to 2 activations to be used on 2 separate machines (1 activation per machine) provided you are the only user of the license on both machines. Once activated your license cannot be deactivated, suspended, paused or transferred to another machine. De-activations and transferability are features limited to more expensive Commercial licenses which are $1000's per annum.
Upon installation, SPSS extracts your machine's "lock-code" (a unique identifier for your machine) which it uses to activate your license. In the event of computer hardware changes (e.g. reformatting or replacing your hard drive) or updates to your operating system (i.e. updating macOS), a new lock-code may be created by your machine. For your SPSS license to work with your new lock-code an additional activation is required.
If one of your activations remains unused, you can use it to license SPSS on your machine. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new license.
To activate SPSS you will need to open the License Authorization Wizard following the instructions below:
Mac users
Windows users
When I enter my authorization code, it says 'invalid license code'. What can I do?
A valid SPSS authorization code is always 20 characters in length and only made up of any numbers 0-9 and any lowercase letters a-f. You should take care not to enter spaces or punctuation marks in the field. Please check carefully if you receive the message 'invalid license code'. If you typed the code in, try copying and pasting. If pasted, try typing. If you still have issues, contact us via live chat.
When I start SPSS, I receive a licensing error (error code 2085 - symptom 37 / 2072 - symptom 4 / 7003 / 7001 / 2). What should I do?
If you have a valid license code, you should complete these licensing steps. If you continue to have problems, please contact us via live chat.

When I start my SPSS Grad Pack, I receive the error "Attempt to connect to a remote server failed inet: local computer". What do I do?
This could be an unsupported version of the macOS operating system or another problem. Please see information here to fix this problem.
When I license my SPSS Grad Pack product, I receive the message "Authorization failed. You are not authorized to generate any more licenses". How can I install it?
You are permitted to activate the SPSS Grad Pack twice during the license term. If you attempt to activate it for a third time without contacting us, the registration will fail. If you have exceptional circumstances requiring a third activation, please contact us to discuss. If you require it activated on more machines, you will need to buy a second license.

Please note that you will only have access to the menu options which correspond to the license you have purchased (eg Base, Standard or Premium). However, if menu options disappear or become corrupted, or SPSS is slow to start, you may need to reset your SPSS Preferences. This applies to Mac only. To fix this, please see the instruction video here. The steps are also listed in the description under the video.
I have installed Amos on Windows and when it asks me to get a license now, I get an error message that says "please run this utility from your product's installation folder.(echoid.dat)" and the License Authorization Wizard never appears. What is going on?
This issue is caused by the 'echoid.dat' file is not being installed during the Statistics installation.
Download the file echoid.zip. Once downloaded right click file echoid.zip and select extract all. Locate the file echoid.dat in the extracted folder.
Move the file from your Desktop to the applications installation directory. You can do this by dragging and dropping the file on to the desktop into the SPSS/AMOS directory or by copying and pasting the file from your desktop into the SPSS/AMOS directory. Below is a list of the default directories; or you can also open the directory by right clicking on your programs launch icon and select "open file location".
